Regular Cleanings

Fillings

Root Canals

Root canals are a procedure performed to save a tooth where the tooth nerve (dental pulp) becomes irritated and painful or has died.  The nerve is removed from the body and root portions of the tooth, the chamber is sterilized and then the canals in the root are filled with a material to occupy the space the nerve use to be.  The tooth remains in the mouth but no longer has a live nerve in it.

These treatments are for the supporting gums and bone of the teeth.  This condition may be of short term situation, however it is most often a long term chronic and episodic disease that may require the services of both a General Dentist and a Periodontist (a dentist that specializes in treating the supporting structures of the teeth).

Extractions

Extraction is a procedure where a tooth and its roots are completely removed from the mouth. An Extraction is performed when a tooth cannot be saved with any of the above treatment procedures or the expense to save the tooth may not be justified for that particular patient.

Implant Services

When a tooth is missing a dental implant can often times be surgically inserted to replace it.  Once the implant body is placed in the bone and it has fully integrated or healed, a post or "abutment" will be placed into the implant body and a crown will be made over the post to give the natural appearance of a tooth.

Permanent Bridges

This procedure may be done when there are teeth strong enough around the missing tooth (or teeth) to receive crowns or bonded support arms.  These crowns are attached or cemented to the natural teeth adjacent to the empty space and support the missing tooth replacement(s).

At Sleep Apnea San Diego, Dr. Danney is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine specializing in Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) as an alternative to CPAP therapy.
